needing new 1.6 block

hey all im liftedzukis brother.. and i just bought a sidekick with a 16 valve for $375.. it ran but had a blown head gasket, so i pretty much parted everything out that i want or need. i got the motor out and started tearing it down and found out the block has a small crack in between one of the cylinders.. so that kinda sucks, the head is all good luckily. so i need to find a new block, and i think all the 1.6 8 valve or 16 valve block are all the same.. i cant remember but what other suzukis or geos have the same block that i cant use? cause i see a block from a early 90s geo storm on ebay and its a sohc 1.6.. thanks everyone..

I have read that the 1.6 8 valves, and 16 valves have the same lower end ,and that they are compatible. I haven;t had both here to compare so I would wait for someone else to chime in.

I did see a tracker on craigslist down your way. For the price you could probably take the engine and part out the rest to pay for it. One-sixer's are getting rare around this part of the state.

I have friend mechanic who goes through a lot of these. he has a big shop so all the samurai guys do the swaps at his place.

last I heard (a while ago) he had a 1.6 smoker sitting on a tire in his shop. Nothing wrong with it mechanically, it just needed a new set of rings.

I have to bring him up an axle this weekend I'll ask him if he has that block, or knows of any that are laying around. A good bet he has or knows of one. 'll ask anywas and let you know what I find out.

I didn't get a hold of them today, they ended up not needing the axle. (someone else had a spare up there). Please send me a PM Monday or Tuesday night to remind me to call. as soon as he gets home I will see what he has.
