possible transfer case issue

I just thought i lost my clutch, it stopped moving and made a screeching sound. Will not go in 2 hi, tried 4 hi with same result. Put in in 4 low and it took off like normal. Is it the transfer case if it wont move in hi range but will in low?
Any help is appreciated.

Check your tcase bushings also, if they are ripped the movement might be poping the shifter out of gear.

Is it possible to strip a gear in high range but it will still move on low?
