i have a buick 3.8 in my 87 i bought it with the swap done and the 2004r was blown the transtunnel was to narrow to pull the tranny off so everything had to come out so with the motor and tranny out i decided to fully rebuild both the motor will be done thursday and the tranny friday havent been able to drive yet but remember what i said about the transmission when you look for a motor and trans.

The 2.8 is actually a bad canidat because it only puts out around ?145? and it has a factory flat spot in the mid range like the zuk has at low. I was going to do it. I had the engine and trans and then looked up the stats and was disapointed. You can build it up pretty dang good but then the money you spent could have been put to better use. If you are looking at a V6 go for the chevy 4.3 THat engine is awesome. I have it in my 99 blazer and It rules. There is also a kit to install if you cant fab very well but the kit is pricey.

I've never seen a rig with a stock 2.8l that did not run like shit.
3.8, 4.3, 350 there are tons of better engines and once you set your mind on a 2.8 your not really worryed about weight anyways.

X2 It really is a waste to run a 2.8 the weight vs power is crap nothing smaller than a 4.3 if looking for something bigger than a 4 banger.

I disagree the suzuki 2.7 v6 is actually pretty good power vs weight.

Good choice.

"I disagree the suzuki 2.7 v6 is actually pretty good power vs weight."
Sorry I was thinking of chevy and ford. Not foreign light weight engines but domestic heavy weights.
