View Full Version : alternator alignment

I bought the GM alternator bracket from TT for my 1.6l. However, it doesn't seem to line up with the fan properly. What upper bracket are people using with this lower bracket from TT? If it's just slightly off will it cause any problems? I figured it would just wear more quickly.

I bought the bracket from rr on 1.6 and the alt was to far forward. I took a cutting wheel to the back of the bolt hole and took off 1/2" and used that as a spacer in front lined up great and I have no probles running it like that for a year.

I kept bending them... so I made my own.

Wow, that's a pretty tough looking bracket you got there! I might have to do something like that I guess. Looks good.

I would be easy to make your own plus you could strengthen it. DIY and get the satisfaction.

I'd like to do it myself but I don't have a lot of tools. I just got an ar compressor and I have a little flux core welder but that's about it. I've got nothing to cut with at the moment...

Buy a hand grinder with cut off discs. Thats what I use for everything. I have a hand grinder and a flux core welder.
