I've done it. Sorry, no write up. I found (still find) OBDII to be a wiring pain, but then when I get around wires, my IQ drops about 40 points. I had to get help with the wiring. Other than that, I didn't think it was that difficult. There are places/people from whom you can get a wiring harness if need be.

I have a 1.6 8v carbed with bolt on MY-FI for non computer controlled fuel injection. I have 35mm pics of my build up. I will try to find a scanner. What you do is pull the engine and trans and seperate. You drill out the 3 and 6 oclock 1/2" holes into 9/16" holes and bolt on adapter plate. Install trans. Take 1.6 and remove intake and distributor Watchind distributor teeth(put to TDC before removal) Remove 1.3 intake and distributor also at TDC. put 1.3 distributor and intake on 1.6 and place back in vehicle. Reattach all wires basically into same spots and fill back with fluids. This is a project that can easily be done in a day with hand tools start to finish. Hope it helps.

See if this helps. It's for a 16V, but it's all basically the same for either motor.

This isn't very difficult at all... I did this with my 92 Samurai.
I unbolted the intake and exhaust and pulled them away from the motor. I pulled the motor out and installed the 1.6 with a conversion kit (tranny adapter, motor mount and shim).
I then bolted the intake and exhaust back up to the new motor. No wiring hassles, and it started on the first try.
Both motors were EFI (1992 Sammy / 1995 Tracker motor).
(this was done in a campground in Moab, nothing fancy)
toast

the guy im getting the engine off says this
"1.6ltr Carby engine mated to a 1.3 sierra gearbox"

so whats involved in that...
plug and play? or do i need to change something?
buy anything new
he said all the needs to be done is take the fella out
move an engine mount
and whack the new bird in....

that alright?

Is your Sierra carbed? If so, yes.
Apples to apples...

do i need a body lift for this to work? iF you use petroworks kit, they supply motor mounts that lower the engine and it also puts it on an angle so you can close the hood.

You can get away with not using a body lift. There are two popular options.
1. Use a taller body bushing at the front body mounts under the grill.
2. Do what you can to lower the air collection horn so it doesn't get squashed by the hood (this is what I did on mine).

I ran a carb without lifting the body at all. RR motor mount tilted a little. RR kit sucks go TT.

I used dodge 318 motor mounts to lower the engine. I think that they from a late 70s model power wagon. They where cheap to. No body lift, hood shuts fine.

Any Dodge vehicle with 318... Last mounts I got for a friend I told them 72 dodge dart.

Agreed. I lowered the air intake. Worked fine. The air intake made a pretty good "outty" dent on the hood when I flopped the zuk and the motor mount broke (they're chained now).

I didn't know about the Dodge motor mounts. Might be worth trying..

here is the best write up on the 16v I have seen.

Can some one please take a picture of the air intake...
Maybe idea for a bonnet scoop?
would that work?

Overall pic from the driver's side

Pic taken from same place; attention to the bracket that holds the air intake. The bottom was cut off, and new bottom holes were drilled higher on the bracket.

Another angle of the the same bracket

You'll notice the air intake tube sits lower than stock. The rubber tube (between the air tube and the intake flexes enough to allow for this.)

it needed a different accelerator cable bracket (the stock one sat too high). The loose cable is the hand throttle cable.

I heed a hand throttle. Nice pics.

Thanks, and I need to re-route the hand throttle. It doesn't work very well there.
