Is there any need to prime the oil pump on suzuki motors if they have not been run or have been freshly rebuilt?

I have never done it. I guess you could turn it over by hand with the plugs out to get things lubed before you crank it.
It takes quite a bit RPMs to get any pressure from the oil pump so doing it by hand might not do as well. You could take off the coil wire to make sure it wont start and turn it over with the starter.
My best guess, sorry. lol

More than half the time we end up getting the disty 180 out, so it gets plenty of cranks to push the oil before we get it right and it fires up...

nice work billyjohn:funny: Just always hearing guys with v8s doing it. Maybe asia engines don't need it?
Pack it full of vasoline. It'll prime itself when it cranks.

just pull your coil wire and turn it over with the battery until you get an oil pressure reading.
