I am fitting a 16V 1600 to my Sammy, and I am going to fit an external electric fuel pump. I read on an Ozzie board that without a lift pump ahead of the EFI pump, and surge control, that the external pumps won't last.
What have y'all used?
Alf.

Welcome to the site XS!
You might wanna install an f150 pump. I'm gonna be doing this swap when the weather gets warmer.

by surge control do you mean a pressure regulator?

if you where running a carb the schematic would look like this.

The f-150 pump will work perfect for the 1.6 16v. The MPI injection has a fuel regulator already built in just like the 8v TBI.

I put a f-150 pump on mine and it worked fine but was very loud, I ended up putting a sidekick pump inside the samurai gas tank. Just remimber that the f150 pump is a pusher not a puller put it near the gas tank

Hey, if this is true, someone please let me know. I've been running mine like this for well over a year (with just the in-line fuel pump).

Yes it is loud, I have seen some people box them in with some insulation and some just get used to it.

I did what you did and took the pump from the tracker and put it in my sami tank.

It is true if you put the pump up close by the motor, it will be pulling a lot of gas and strain it, but if you put it close to the tank before the filter it will be just fine.

That sounds promising, I have a Jaguar EFI pump (external) and will mount it close to the tank.
Thanks.
