1.3 idle adjustment

i thought the problem started with the broken throttle cable so i replaced the cable and started it. it ran at 5000 rpm so i adjusted the cable
now it runs at 2000

so i messed with the idle screw and now it runs at 1500 then drops to 1000 then dies

i read on zuwharrie a post on how to adjust the cold idle, it wouldve been helpful if his pics would have showed up instead of little x's

can any one help ?

have you checked the timing and or vaccum lines? theres alot of vaccum lines that could have an effect on idle! and if the PO didn't know that he/she could have just idled it up to keep it going! also if the timing is retarded then when you lower the idle it would allow it to die!
