... is best? Calmini or Thorley?

They both look the same to me, but Spidertrax has them both listed and there's a bunch of $ difference in them. I got a zuk so you know I'm cheap!

What do you guys use? Is there something better? popcornn

Thanks - James

My opinion is either one is a good design. I was told to get the Calmini from someone other than Calmini directly. I bought my DT from Summit Racing. They had the best price and I belive free shipping.

I bought my thornley from RR and I love it. Dosent matter who you get it from just make sure it says "doug thorney" on it and you are good to go. The power that the thing brings out is amazing.

Both headers are tri y style. But how about long tube 4 into one style? Every body says 1.3 rev. but dont make power, down low.If thats so why not a 4 into one header?They make power on the top of the rpm range?I dont care! I'm buildin my own equal length 4 into 1 long tube header. If nothing else it will look puke compared to every one else running a tri y:dance: :dance: :dance:

Not mine! Good thought.We dont have inspections here in Ia.(thank god )My statement was about tri y or long tube. I'm putting in a bung for 02 sensor, for egt. only.Your right in states having dmv inspections your choices are made for you even if the tail pipe is clean!:happy

DT=down tube?

I'm pretty sure the DT in that post refers to 'Doug Thorley', the designer of that particular header - and apparantly the header made and sold by Calmini?

I don't see anyone mentioning Hooker, or the other big name guys.smokin

DT = Doug Thorley

Doug Thorley and Calmini make their own headers.

I think the Thorley header Zukinoobi is seeing on Roadless Gears site is for the 1.6 16v. That is why the price is so much more.

The Thorley header is 50 state legal, not sure about the Calmini. I have been told that the Thorley and the Calmini are the only headers that actually work well on the Samurai. Not sure why.

I also think the Calmini is ceramic coated and will not turn blue like the Thorley.

2. Trail Tough #DTH-200 $189.00

3. Petroworks #ENG5200 $199.95

4. Inferno Truck Performance $193.00

5. Summit Racing #DTE-700Y $179.95

(Application Footnotes: 3 - This Thorley header is available from stock with metallic ceramic coating by adding a "-C" to the part number)

I run the Thorley. Bought it used for $100. I had a Hedman but sold it before I put it on. It needed a bung helded in for the O2 sensor. Something to remember if you run stock carb. Jim
