I have a 89 1.6l 8v motor in my samurai that replaced the 1.3. I did not do the swap and do not know if it has the stock radiator fan or not. Will both fit one for a 1.3l/1.6?????

I have a 1.6 and did it myself. As far as I can figure the 1.3 fan prabably wont fit the 1.6 but I know the 1.6 fan is bigger and is angled differently. The 1.3 radiator is reused in the swap and cools just fine. If you are having heat problems go to http://jegs.com buy some "Royal purple" radiator fluid additive. It is a quart and cools temp 30% lower than normal.

Both fans will swap out. The 1.3 radiator is just fine for the 1.6 8v.

ditch the fan clutch and install a thermostatically controlled electric fan with manual overide off/on switch.

That sounds like a really good idea. Any links to parts or tech.

cheap ones on ebay and at a junk yards

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&shortcut=0&from=R41&query=electric+cooling+fan&category0=

I installed one from a chevy corsica on mine but it was on a rocker switch. (on/off only) It was held on by plastic zip ties at first then I switched to small hose clamps thru the rad.

here is a cool homemade fan shroud someone made from aluminum that fits a stock rad.

The 1.3 and 1.6 Fans are a dirrect bolt on to each other.
At least with the 1.6L 16v might be differant with the 8v?

I thought the 1.6L 8v motor ran a little hotter and needed a 3 core Rad.??

What's a good source for this? I've been thinking it would be a good idea to squeeze another 1 or 2 hp back out of the rat-wheel (which counts if your total is around 60 to begin with!)
