View Full Version : [1986] Two wiring ID questions (under the hood)

Been a while since I had to have your help doing detective work on the harness, but now I'm back! I need help with 2 questions, please:

1. On my 86 with 1.3L, I have a mystery solid white wire on the passenger side harness in the engine bay. It has a factory female flat spade connector on it with plastic protective sleeve. I have the FSM and wiring diagram and I have stared at it more than I care to remember and I can find no indication of what this should/used to connect to. The wire is long enough to reach to the front of the engine bay. Ideas?

2. On same rig, I have to dig back into the harness and find the factory temp gauge sending unit sensor wire. My wiring diagram seems to tell me I am looking for a white wire with a yellow tracer. Can anyone confirm that? I have a dedicated temp gauge, but I'm retentive enough to want the dash working, too, if I can do it.

White wire... Isn't that the fusable link? Connects to the positive side of the battery.

No sir. I've got that identified fine. This is a small, about 14 or 16 ga wire.

That goes to your horn relay. It is the power side of the relay and slso provides power to the dome light and the clock on the dash.

I have a big wiring harness diagram for the 1.3 I could email to you if you like.

I forgot the #2 question.

You are looking for a Yellow with a white tracer for the water temp gauge

That goes to your horn relay. It is the power side of the relay and slso provides power to the dome light and the clock on the dash.

Id like to get that 1.3 diagram also. Im trying to put a 88 harness in a 91 sammy thanks

Yeah.. Today I got some progress.. driver headlight works,pass running light,the heater blower works, and that dang key beeper... everything else is a no go yet. lol

I was looking for the location of the horn relay. I have no power to the wheel or out at the horn. where and what am I looking for?
would you mind sending me that wiring diagram as well?
