Well I went and tapped my pump for a ram assist set up and I need to run a power steering cooler, would the one from petroworks do the job? Has anyone ram this cooler? Thanks for any info?

I dont have that cooler but I bought a tranny cooler at my local autoparts for $30 and I run that for my PS. The measurments are about 10" x 14" and it does great. I zip tied it in front of my radiator.

does the size of the cooler and fluid capacity effect the resivor and its capacity? Mabe my question is more like what is the max size cooler I could run and the minimum so I can run with out over fill and still big enough to do the job?

I am using the rockstomper.com orbital, 2x8 Ram with a chevy 3/4 ton steering pump.

Size dont matter, except the bigger your cooler is the cooler it will be. The bigger the cooler you have the more fluid capacity you will have therefore it will run cooler. Just put the cooler on the return line before it gets to the resivor and not on the pressure lines.

The pump will return the same amount of fluid it displaces no matter how much capacity it has so there is no worry of the resivor overflowing from the pump.

Thankyou.

After re-reading my post it sound like I was sugesting to get the biggest cooler you can find. That is not the case. The one I have is probably well capable of doing the job of any ps setup out there. In other words it dont have to be a huge cooler to get the job done.
