I have a 1988.5 Samurai and I was wondering if the flange on the rear diff is small or large bolt patern

This is what I am talking about

...and the answer is,

It depends.

88.5 was a wacky comglomeration of new and old parts. Somewhere about that time in the production life of the American Samurai the flange size also changed. So you have to look and compare.

You probably didn't want to hear that, I bet.

Hopefully, you will be able to return the part if it does not mate with your truck's Differential flange...

Ack's right...
I built an 88.5 about 4 years ago and it was all large flange. I picked up my current 88.5 and bought a set of driveshaft spares for it... and then looked closer and found it was small flange.

I guess I will measure the flange tommorow.

I have the measurements for both in the u-joint article in the new issue of iZook.

Roach, That sammy had both....

The front axle is large flange, but is drilled for the small flange bolts aswell.
The T-case is small flange all around.
The rear axle is small flange.

If you would have called, I could have told ya...
