just wondering how the diff. clearance compares with a zuk axle with a 33" tire and a toy axle and a 35" tire.

Real close to the same on the clearance. But you will hit the trails with more confidence running Toy's with 35's. Not only will you be stronger you will be wider. I would not trust a zuk axle on 33's for to long. It is gonna happen.

It all depends on technique...
I run 33's, and the front axle is stock (with a little armor). I don't even run birf rings. I average one axle shaft/birf a year. But I broke much more back when I ran 31" street tires on the trail. I figure I just learned how to drive my equipment.
Toys are stronger, granted, but they are not required for 33's.

I kind of had a feeling it would be real close. I do like extra width. I used to run fullwidth axles on my Scout and it was incredible stable. I even tossed around the idea of putting fullwidths on the zuk, But then I see them zuk axles sitting in the corner of the garage and it would be real easy to just put them back on and just run 33"s. of course, by the time I put some $ into them to make them polished turds I could have bought some toys.

as far as technique, I have run 35"s on a dana 30 and 38"x16"s on a dana 44 and only broke u-joints before.

The 30 was a open diff. so that helped.

I run 33's and zuk axles and 4.62 gears and i never have any problems. i go everywhere anyone zuk with toys goes.

How much wider are toys than zuk axles anyway?

I have been running :suzuki: for almost 9 years.
I had an axle issue before I went to more offset wheels.
They are TT hybred's. Running 33's till this last set 35's.
Alot depends on your driving and equipment.

I think toys are like 3" wider

So why not just get the TT Double Tough front axle and Hybrid rear axle and just use wheel spacers. Youll get close to the same width. and My Double Toughs are pretty much unbreakable. Ive had them in the worst binds and they held up just fine.

^^^

Because the simple fact that all the components involved with spinning the front tires are not that strong.

You get a tough as nails Berfield, BOOM! There goes the hub... Get a warn hub and double toughs, BOOM!! There goes a spider gear, or in my dad's case, an inner shaft.

The thing is, my dad figured out the secret to Stock berfields, if you are turned either way too hard (depends on what you are conquering) then you will bust a berfield way easy...
BUT!!! Going straight, a well-taken-care-of berfield will never break, but either the inner shaft and/or the hub will break.

It JUST happend 2 weekends ago...
We were climbing this straight up wall, fooling around, (Not even Matt's Sidekick on 39" Rockers could have made this thing) we got bored climbing it forward, so we turned around and climbed it a little backwards... went back to the bottom, unlocked the hubs, and backed up it again to get us directed...
I watched it happen...

BOOM!
The Passenger side hub explodes! It was because he had been climbing backwards and the pressure was on the backing side of it, and he didn't go forward, so the hub was still locked, even though it was in "FREE"...

zukjunkie 13.........sounds pricey, If I was going to spend that much on bling axle parts I would go ahead buy a better axle instead (wider and stronger) and would be able to run 35" + tires.m2c

That makes sense you could do that. I was just saying if you wanted to have almost the same stance like toys you could do that. its a little expensive ya but i think they are worth it....and if your put the longfield axles in those are pretty pricey too.

I've seen Yota axles work HARD on Sammy's with big ass 37s and 39's on them

The only rig ive seen that had anything bigger than 37s was the new TT buggy that had the 39 iroks.
